We are everywhere in your daily life and you don’t see it! With our entity Air Liquide France Industrie, we participate in our customer's innovative development applications: the bubbles of your soda, the chip of your smartphone, or the reduction of polluting emissions.Air Liquide France Industrie brings together the production and marketing of industrial gases in France with four complementary business lines: Large Industry, Industrial Merchant, Electronics, and Hydrogen. The subsidiary has 2,400 employees at 58 sites across the country and serves more than 200,000 customers, from artisans to petrochemical manufacturers, from analytical laboratories to semiconductors and metallurgy. How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?ALFI is a major player in hydrogen production in the Normandy basin; as such, it already operates two steam methane reforming (SMR) units at the Port-Jérôme and Gonfreville sites, connected by a hydrogen pipeline network. Additionally, ALFI aims to assist its clients in the decarbonization of the industry and has invested in a hydrogen production capacity through water electrolysis from renewable energy (the Normand’Hy project); this new unit will start in 2026.Missions ResponsibilitiesUntil the end of 2025, the position will be based at the Port-Jérôme or Gonfreville plants and will then be transferred to the Normand’Hy plant in St-Jean de Folleville. After several months of overlap with the existing site teams (working hours and/or shifts), it will transition to a shift position (3x8).In compliance with quality, safety, and environmental regulations (once the transfer to Normand’Hy is completed), your main responsibilities will include:Supervising operations from the Remote Control System (SNCC) for the SMRs at Port-Jérôme and Gonfreville.Conducting operations for the electrolysis unit at Normand’Hy.Contributing to customer satisfaction and industrial efficiency by ensuring the reliability and proper functioning of installations (availability, automation, reliability, operation in degraded mode).More detailed exploitation tasks (once the transfer to Normand’Hy is completed) will consist of:Ensuring site safety and the proper functioning of units.Conducting operational rounds to ensure safety, quality, and reliability of supply, in compliance with regulatory requirements and Air Liquide's Industrial Management System.Documenting discrepancies noted during rounds in the digital logbook.Operating production devices and the pipeline network to meet customer demands while maximizing hydrogen production, in strong coordination with the SIO center teams.Participating in the start-up of installations, whether on one of the two SMRs or at Normand’Hy, taking place at the site concerned by the restart.Responding to production events (alarms, triggers) to diagnose and restart installations, in coordination with local on-call teams, site maintenance, and national experts.Proposing solutions to stabilize, automate, and optimize units in collaboration with process and SIO center teams.Executing lockout/tagout operations at Normand’Hy as requested by maintenance teams.Preparing work permits for Normand’Hy based on maintenance team requests and ensuring equipment availability for safe and quality interventions.Conducting production tests at Normand’Hy (including tests of instrumented safety loops).Developing continuous improvement of operational procedures.Fostering close collaboration with different operational teams in the basin (operations and maintenance).Participating in site audits.Being familiar with Digital Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controllers for rapid diagnostics in case of malfunction.Actively participating in team meetings.Keeping technical files, diagrams, and equipment plans updated related to your area of expertise.ParticularitiesThe Normand’Hy plant is set to start in 2026, and your position will evolve as follows:Until Summer 2026: Your workload will be shared between (i) supervising the two SMRs at Port-Jérôme and Gonfreville and (ii) the start-up of the Normand’Hy unit, closely linked with the Engineering division of the Air Liquide Group and various suppliers. During this phase, you will also contribute to preparing for the operational phase of the Normand’Hy plant (creating operational standards, ensuring compliance with Air Liquide's Industrial Management System). To accelerate your familiarization with the technical and organizational environment of the Air Liquide Group, you may undertake missions in other similar plants under start-up in France and Europe. After Summer 2026: You will be responsible for the operation of the three units, in position. The position requires shift work for 8-hour periods. In the early years of operation, the unit will gradually be stabilized and automated, allowing operational teams to potentially transition to a standby mode. Are you a MATCH?BAC + 2 technical, ideally BTS CIRA.You have at least 5 years of operational experience in the chemical/petrochemical industry, preferably as an operator. You have experience in one of the following areas: high/low voltage electricity, instrumentation, process control, rotating equipment management (screw/piston compressors), industrial water treatment, risk management, safety of personnel. You are proficient in reading technical documents (PFD, PID, IP, and other documents related to your area of expertise).Experience in starting up industrial units is a plus. You prioritize safety and have a team spirit. You are both hands-on and comfortable with IT and office tools. You speak English, enabling you to communicate with representatives of various equipment suppliers, especially during the start-up phase of the unit.Geographical location: Port-Jérôme then Normand’Hy (Saint-Jean de Folleville). To limit travel time, you must live within 45 minutes of the Normand’Hy site (Saint-Jean de Folleville). Our Differences make our PerformanceAt Air Liquide, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace that embraces the diversity of our employees, customers, patients, community stakeholders, and cultures across the world. We welcome and consider applications from all qualified applicants, regardless of their background.
