Job Description The Senior Civil Engineer - Buildings is responsible for the civil design of the HPC buildings - HL, reporting to the Civil Team Lead and supported by 1 or 2 civil engineers. They will act as the central point of contact for all items and scope which fall under their responsibility, liaising with the project entities and stakeholders as appropriate. Key interfaces include: Project management and procurement teams, Engineering teams, either Bristol-based or based in back-office (France, Germany), Design Authority and Safety Case teams, Other discipline teams, e.g., mechanical, hazards, environment, configuration management. Receive, analyze, and verify the consistency of the input data. Manage design changes, find technical solutions, support to construction site. Modifying and adapting the design received from the Back Office, substantiating the adapted design of the reinforced concrete structures on HPC. Produces deliverables for which they are responsible (design hypotheses, methodology and assumption notes; technical specifications; calculation notes). Coordinate the work of CAD Designers. Perform technical verifications of civil engineering design notes, models, and drawings. Contribute to the surveillance of the anchorages designed by the equipment suppliers. Contribute to CDM reviews, create, and maintain the Design Risk Register. Load evolution tracking and civil design margin management. Liaise with site-based engineering teams to facilitate the construction. Monitor progress on site and ensure conformance to design requirements. Liaise with subject matter experts. Qualifications: Civil Engineering Degree with a minimum of 5 years' experience. Design office experience. Reinforced concrete design knowledge (nuclear is a bonus). Knowledge and understanding of relevant Health and Safety regulations. Desirable: Chartered Engineer (MICE or MIStructE) or working towards chartership. Established skill and delivery in: the design and analysis of concrete and steel structures, and familiarity with current design standards and working practices (British Standards and possibly American codes); the design and analysis of drainage, utilities, paved and unpaved surfaces, earthworks, access and accessibility, construction logistics and familiarity with current UK design standards and working practices; managing complex multi-disciplinary designs and teams, including integration, design and delivery management. Experience in, and a desire to, collaborate within a technically orientated and technically focused team.
