Principal Consultant - Energy Transition & Critical Minerals

About The Role

Grade Level (for internal use): 10

This role will contribute to the growth of our global critical minerals consulting team and support our broader Energy Transition projects for private and public sector clients by providing analytical expertise, model development, and managing workstreams to produce client-ready deliverables. The successful candidate will focus primarily on critical minerals, helping to expand our consulting capabilities in this area, working closely with clients and team members to ensure quality, timely, and within-budget project delivery.

The role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse team of energy and transition experts, gaining exposure to various industries, clients, including senior leaders and policymakers, and developing a broad skill set through dynamic projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage entire workstreams within larger projects under the project manager's guidance.
  • Assist in business development activities such as proposals, scoping calls, and conferences.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of high-quality outputs per project plans.
  • Conduct client interviews, workshops, and presentations to gather insights and communicate recommendations.
  • Develop insights through data analysis and industry expertise.
  • Review analysis and models created by team members, providing constructive feedback.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication.
  • Work independently on consulting engagements as needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • 4 to 8 years of experience in industry, consulting, or finance sectors.
  • Extensive experience in metals & mining consulting or direct mining industry roles.
  • Deep knowledge of the metals & mining market, including supply chains, market dynamics, and regulations.
  • Experience related to the energy sector, especially operations, energy efficiency, low-carbon energy, or sustainability roles.
  • Exposure to the energy value chain: production, processing, distribution, or consumption.
  • Management consulting experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • BSc. in a related field; postgraduate degrees (finance, economics, business) are advantageous.
  • Strong English communication skills; additional languages are a plus.
  • Analytical mindset, comfortable using data to support opinions.
  • Willingness to travel (~20%), occasionally more.
  • Team-oriented with openness to ideas and feedback.
