👋 About Us

At sunday, we’re redesigning the entire hospitality experience: not just payments.

With our phone, guests can access the menu, place their order, pay the bill, tip, and leave a review. We fine‑tune every touchpoint to deliver a seamless experience. Our latest innovation brings video into menus: not just visuals, but a way to build trust through transparency and spotlight the craft behind every dish.

Our mission goes beyond the guest experience. We build dedicated tools that empower teams, such as our best‑in‑class payment terminal built for hospitality, saving servers valuable time. We also share real‑time guest reviews so teams can track satisfaction and improve their shift instantly. Hospitality is demanding: that’s what drives us. It pushes us to move fast, think smart, and raise the bar every day. As our business grows, so do our teams. We’re looking for people who can help us scale and bring structure without slowing us down.

💼 About The Role

We are looking for a Legal Counsel (2–5 years of experience) to join our lean and high‑performing legal team. You will be the second legal hire, working directly with the VP Legal (based in Paris), and will play a key role in supporting sunday’s international growth and strengthening our legal capabilities across Europe and the US.

🔥 Key Responsibilities

You’ll act as a generalist legal counsel with a strong international and commercial focus, covering contracts, privacy, payments, and product compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Product & Commercial

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements.
  • Maintain and update terms of service and other customer‑facing legal documents.
  • Streamline contracting processes: standardise templates, playbooks, and workflows to support scale.
  • Anticipate and embed legal requirements into product design, in close collaboration with product and engineering teams.

Privacy, Data & AI

  • Improve Sunday’s GDPR/privacy program.
  • Advise on AI compliance and governance.

Payments & Regulatory

  • Monitor and apply payment scheme rules (Visa, Mastercard) and help define and explain Sunday’s regulatory perimeter (PSD2/PSR, AML obligations).

Legal advisory & compliance

  • Monitor legal developments in key jurisdictions (EU, UK, US) and assess their impact.
  • Provide practical, business‑oriented advice on international operations and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver concise training and guidance to internal teams (finance, compliance, sales, product).

😊 About You

  • Around 2–5 years of legal experience, ideally combining private practice and in‑house.
  • Strong experience in commercial contracts, data protection, and payments/fintech regulation.
  • Fluent in English and French (written and spoken).
  • Exposure to the US market or ability to operate in an international environment.
  • Previous experience in a startup or scale‑up environment (ideally fintech, payments, or tech).
  • Pragmatic and business‑minded: you focus on solutions, not roadblocks.

Nice To Have

  • Hands‑on experience with US contracting frameworks
  • Experience working with payment schemes, PSPs, or regulators.

⛳️ Compensation, Perks & Benefits

  • Base salary starting at 50k euros
  • Equity (BSPCE)
  • Free vacation policy
  • 100% health coverage for you and your children
  • 50% reimbursement of public transport season tickets
  • A comfortable office in the heart of Paris
  • Significant responsibility from day one and the opportunity to grow internationally alongside the business.
  • The opportunity to be a core member of a small, strategic legal team in a high‑growth international startup.
  • Exposure to cutting‑edge topics across payments, data, AI, and transatlantic operations.
  • A hybrid working environment, strong benefits, and the energy of a fast‑scaling team backed by world‑class investors.

Thank you for taking the time to apply, and looking forward to getting to know you!
