Job Description

Legal Counsel – reporting directly to the Head of Legal.

As part of the Legal team, you will support the company’s growth by providing expert legal guidance in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment, particularly in data privacy, content and platform regulation, consumer and contract law. You will ensure compliance with applicable laws while facilitating business innovation and growth through proactive legal risk management and close collaboration with internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate, and manage the lifecycle of contracts (vendors, partners, service providers, T&Cs, privacy policies).
  • Support the Trust & Safety team in drafting safety policies, mitigating user‑facing risks, and facilitating law enforcement cooperation across jurisdictions.
  • Provide legal input to the Product team, ensuring compliance with privacy‑by‑design principles, consumer laws, and transparency obligations.
  • Maintain and update GDPR documentation (privacy policies, DPIAs, processing records, data retention policies, etc.).
  • Advise on applicable laws and regulations, particularly regarding user safety and online content, including compliance with the Digital Services Act, AI Act, and GDPR.
  • Assist in developing data privacy programs (training, awareness, due diligence, privacy‑by‑design frameworks).
  • Contribute to responding to regulatory investigations and information requests (e.g., CNIL, ARCOM), and help build cooperation processes with law enforcement in various markets.
  • Support Public Affairs on regulatory trends, legislative developments, and interactions with authorities.
  • Support improvements to Legal processes, knowledge systems, and operations (Notion, Slack, LLMs).
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks, providing pragmatic solutions.
  • Provide occasional legal assistance in corporate, labor law, or litigation matters, as requested.
  • Possibility to mentor the legal intern, drive their mission, and provide feedback.

Tools and Ways of Working

  • Work cross‑functionally with Trust & Safety, Product, Tech, and Public Affairs.
  • Use modern collaboration and knowledge tools (e.g. Notion, Slack, LLMs) to continuously improve Legal processes, documentation, and operations.

Qualifications

  • Legal counsel with experience in the tech or platform sector, familiar with EU regulations such as GDPR, DSA, and AI Act.
  • Strong skills in contract lifecycle management and a pragmatic approach to compliance.
  • Able to translate complex legal and regulatory topics into clear, actionable guidance for Product, Trust & Safety, and operational teams.
  • Comfortable engaging with regulators, authorities, and law enforcement agencies in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Proactive and solution‑oriented, with strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Curious about new tools and AI, and motivated to enhance legal processes and knowledge sharing.

Recruitment Process

  • Case study or technical exercise and debrief with the Head of Legal

Impact in the First 6 Months

  • Handle the contracts lifecycle (drafting, negotiation, renewals, templates).
  • Prepare the 2025 Transparency Report.
  • Maintain and update GDPR documentation.
  • Support legal demands from the Product, Tech, and Trust & Safety teams.
