Established in 2006, our client specialises in the development, construction, and operation of wind and solar projects. They have grown to become a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, with more than 600 employees and activities in 16 markets across Europe and the USA.

Currently, they own and operate almost 2GW of wind and solar projects and their development portfolio includes more than 53 GW.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing legal advice and support on a wide range of activities;
  • Drafting and negotiating contracts agreements, minutes and other legal documents related to renewable energy projects from an IPP standpoint;
  • Being the liaison with external law firms for diverse legal support, but most importantly in what regards renewables’ public litigation;
  • Advising on and securing compliance of the business operations with the French and EU regulatory frameworks and laws;
  • Assisting and ensuring compliance with the specific French energy regulatory framework throughout the project development, construction and operation phases;
  • Anticipate and manage legal risk in connection with or resulting from the business strategy and operations, as well as contacting the relevant authorities for the projects;
  • Conducting legal research and providing advice to the Head of Legal (Southern Europe) and/or the French Country Manager, as well as cooperating with other members of the remaining operational departments;
  • Being permanently updated on new energy regulation, in particular in the AgriPV, Wind, BESS and green hydrogen industries;
  • Assist on the companies’ corporate matters.

Core Requirements:

  • University degree in Law, preferably with a specialisation in Energy or Administrative/Public Law in France;
  • 3-6 years of experience, preferably working with a law firm in the Energy sector (or a renewable energy company with similar role) - Less experienced profiles but with a significant background will be considered;
  • Experience on administrative procedures for the development of renewable energy projects;
  • Strong experience in renewables’ public litigation (environmental permitting);
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes;
  • Legal experience in corporate, commercial and real estate matters;
  • Knowledge of the AgriPV/Wind/Solar business as well as general business law issues of an IPP, including regulatory framework in the relevant geographic area;
  • Fluency in French and English, with strong communication skills in both languages;
  • Ability to work on several projects at the same time with time sensitive deliverables;
  • Availability to travel.
