France is a key focus market with a large untapped potential in the solar rooftop market. There are strong market drivers which will create a solid and financeable business model for large-scale rooftop projects in the coming years. The French team has been successful to get a foot in the door in France and is now experiencing a rapid build-up of the team. Our French head office is located in Paris. The team is small, entrepreneurial, and ambitious.

The Team:

You will work on a day-to-day basis in the multi-disciplinary client team based in Paris, consisting of colleagues from operations, commerce, and finance, and together you will work on developing and realizing solar projects on large-scale rooftops in France.

In addition, you will be part of Sunrock’s international legal team and a large legal community within the COFRA group. Sunrock’s legal team consists of in-house attorneys-at-law and legal counsel, each with local expertise in solar projects (roof, ground, water, and carport), energy contracting and trading, setting up new business and general (corporate) legal affairs.

You will report to the Managing Director France as well as (functionally) to the General Counsel based in Amsterdam.

The Role:

In this dynamic position, the primary focus is on the legal guidance of solar projects on large roofs within the client team, and you are also involved in the legal side of projects on land, water, noise barriers, and carports, as well as setting up new business. You are at the heart of the organization and you take full ownership. With your knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm, colleagues are looking forward to working with you.

Your Responsibilities Will Include But Are Not Limited To:

• Responsible for legal guidance of large rooftop projects: this concerns processes from LOI-lease agreement-permit-subsidy-real rights to tenders and takeovers.
• Negotiate and draft various agreements (e.g. leases/engineering, procurement and construction agreements/power purchase agreements).
• Take up various ad-hoc legal questions from within the organization.
• Help set up new business, such as energy storage.

What You Bring To The Table:

• Law degree from a European university.
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience as a lawyer or in the legal profession/notarial profession.
• Experience in French real estate.
• Experience in renewable energy and assets.
• French energy law, tenders and/or environmental law is an advantage.
• You are accurate and careful.
• Solution-driven team player.
• Confident with strong communication skills.
• Practical, stress resistant, and no-nonsense.
• Proficiency in French & English
