Overview

We are looking for a French Legal Counsel to provide legal support to Colt DCS business focusing on the construction, development and operation of Data Centre projects in Paris with a good understanding of commercial real estate acquisition and related commercial transactions such as building contracts, consultancy agreements, as well as interconnected agreements including commercial T&C for supplier agreements, relevant aspects of sales agreements. English business language fluency is essential.

The candidate will be part of a wider DCS legal team and regulatory experts based in Paris. Candidates would be expected to work closely with the wider DCS legal team (headquartered in London) and local colleagues and to support Colt DCS French colleagues in the Development and Delivery Teams in each case building strong working relationships to ensure success. The role will also include liaising with customers, third party vendors and external counsel as well as with our Funders based in the US and will report to the Senior Legal Counsel for France. The successful candidate will be motivated and able to undertake significant responsibility.

The role will be mainly focused in dealing with matters in France and / or in French language but there would also be some involvement in international projects and related business activities in connection with the ownership and operation of Data Centres, investor demands and refinancing / restructuring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the drafting, review and negotiation of construction contracts (design and build contracts, consultancy agreements, EPC contracts, Supplier’s Terms and Conditions..) and other commercial contracts (Commercial Terms and Conditions) needed for the operation of Data Center
  • Draft related contract reports for the business
  • Manage external counsel and relevant public authorities where necessary.
  • Arranging execution / stamping of final form agreements.
  • Support for the company’s risk and audit team where required.
  • Conduct legal research and risk analysis where required in any legal field required for advising during the pre-contractual and contractual stages
  • Provide legal training sessions to wider team on legal topics relating to construction

Skills & Experience

  • A French Master’s degree in private contract’s law (CAPA Holders and / or specialization in construction’s law would be highly appreciated)
  • PQE 1-5 years
  • Fluent English required
  • Strong academic background, legal knowledge and drafting skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and varied workload
  • Ability to work independently and in a remote environment
  • Experience in the construction and development sector would be an advantage
  • A team player, diligent and high attention to detail with ambition to improve and grow into the Company
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to work with both local and international team members
