Macgregor Black are partnering with a Consumer Goods brand on the search for a Head of Retail Expansion. This is a permanent role based in France.

As the Head of Retail Expansion, you will lead the strategic growth and optimisation of physical retail stores, automated kiosks, and digital channels across France. You will take full ownership of P&L responsibilities and spearhead the expansion and operational management of new locations. This role focuses on driving revenue growth, improving customer experiences, and ensuring seamless integration across all sales touchpoints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the planning, strategy, and execution of retail store and automated kiosk expansion across France.
  • Collaborate with real estate teams to identify and secure prime locations for new retail outlets and kiosks in high-traffic areas.
  • Develop a scalable framework for retail and kiosk expansion that aligns with company goals and operational standards.
  • Oversee daily operations of physical retail locations and kiosks, focusing on efficiency, sales performance, and customer service excellence.
  • Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales, foot traffic, conversion rates, and customer satisfaction across all retail touchpoints.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve store operations and customer experience.
  • Work with merchandising and product teams to optimize the product mix, inventory management, and visual merchandising in each location.
  • Ensure seamless integration of physical stores, kiosks, and digital channels for a cohesive customer experience.
  • Oversee and optimise the performance of the local e-commerce platform, ensuring alignment with retail strategies and driving sales growth.
  • Implement customer satisfaction and retention strategies, including loyalty programs and personalized marketing.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to execute region-specific campaigns, in-store activations, and promotions to drive traffic and increase brand awareness.
  • Take full ownership of the P&L for retail stores and kiosks, ensuring financial targets are met and initiatives deliver profitable growth.
  • Develop and manage budgets for retail expansion projects and marketing efforts, ensuring financial discipline and forecasting accuracy.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing retail expansion team, ensuring they have the skills and resources needed for success.

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum of 8-10 years in retail expansion, with specific experience in successfully opening and managing flagship stores.
  • Ideally in the Fashion / Beauty or associated consumer goods sector, with a deep understanding of retail operations and market trends.
  • Strong strategic thinking, project management, and financial acumen. Expertise in managing large-scale store openings and operations.
  • Proven track record of leading teams and developing talent, with a strong focus on operational excellence and customer service.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Retail Management, or related field; MBA or equivalent is a plus.
  • Fluent in French and English.
