We’re seeking a visionary Head of Hardware Engineering to lead the development of next-generation low-field MRI. If you are passionate about solving complex engineering challenges and developing technologies that will significantly impact peoples lives, then I am keen to hear from you.
Having recently secured Series A fundraising, they are growing rapidly and are fully focused on getting their prototype ready for clinical studies, one step closer to making MRI imaging more accessible than ever before.
What will you be doing?
- Leading multidisciplinary hardware teams (Electronics, Mechanical, Validation) through full product development cycles, from concept to production.
- Own and refine the Hardware Design & Development process in alignment with ISO 13485 and IEC 60601 standards.
- Grow and mentor a high-performing team of 15+ engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, agility, and technical excellence.
- Define and execute strategic plans for hardware development in alignment with product milestones.
- Participate in Design Reviews and Management Reviews to ensure design integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as a key stakeholder in project reviews, communicating progress, risks, and mitigation plans to internal leadership.
- Identify and resolve technical risks, dependencies, and development roadblocks.
- Drive design for manufacturability (DFM), cost optimization, and quality improvements without sacrificing speed to market.
- Lead or support CAPA and Change Control processes related to hardware.
- Contribute to regulatory submissions and technical documentation to ensure compliance with global medical device standards.
What we are looking for:
- Proven experience leading complex hardware product development; background in medical devices is a plus; experience in MRI is a strong plus.
- Educational background in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven track record in managing cross-functional engineering teams (e.g., electronic, mechanical, embedded systems, imaging/MRI).
- Strong expertise in medical device development and deep familiarity with ISO 13485 and IEC 60601 compliance frameworks.
