OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POSTThe Communication and Information Sector’s mission is to promote freedom of expression, media development and media literate societies, and to build knowledge societies through fostering universal access to information, innovation for sustainable development and the preservation of documentary heritage. (The role of this position does not include responsibility for UNESCO's wider external communications, which is managed by the Division for Communications and Public Engagement.)
In line with UNESCO’s Major Programme V (Communication and Information), the Individual Consultant shall provide assistance on projects related to the Universal Access to Information and Digital Inclusion Section in the Communication and Information Sector’s work on Open Educational Resources (OER).
Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information, the Director of the Division for Digital Inclusion and Policies and Digital Transformation (CI/DPT) and the Chief of Section for Universal Access to Information and Digital Inclusion (CI/DPT/UAI) and the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Specialist responsible for OER and Digital Inclusion:
