Oliver Wyman is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join our Legal team in Paris. Please note: the hybrid working policy requires at least 60% of time in the Paris office.

About the role

As Assistant General Counsel for France, you will be part of an experienced global in‑house legal team dedicated to the management and economic consulting businesses of Oliver Wyman Group (“OWG”). This role is ideal for a mid‑level to senior‑level corporate/commercial lawyer with at least 5 years post‑qualification experience. You will work closely with the EMEA legal team and the Chief Counsel, Continental Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Provide corporate advice and support on a wide range of legal issues and projects to the OWG businesses across EMEA.
  • Review, draft and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts and other legal documents related to OWG’s global professional services, including engagement letters, client agreements, subcontracts, third‑party release/reliance letters, etc.
  • Advise consultants and corporate support functions on legal issues, including the implications of commercial business decisions.
  • Identify liability exposure and provide creative solutions to manage and reduce risk.
  • Coordinate specialty legal reviews by internal and external advisers on a range of matters.
  • Assist with all matters related to legal support of the OWG businesses, including compliance and risk mitigation processes.

Qualifications

  • French‑qualified lawyer with at least 5 years post‑qualification experience; private practice lawyers with first in‑house transition considered.
  • Fluency in French and English required.
  • Proven experience in commercial contract review, drafting and negotiation.
  • Transactional and corporate finance experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, drafting skills and ability to interface with senior management; good judgment and commercial mindset.
